FAQs

 Kaldr Plnge

How long does set up/take down take?

The cold plnge can be inflated within a matter of minutes. From there, the chiller must be plugged into an electrical outlet and the hoses connected from the tub into the chiller. After that, tub may be filled with a standard garden hose. This whole process will likely take around 15 - 20 minutes, depending on water pressure. Take down is exactly the reverse of this process and will likely take about the same amount of time!

What are the electrical requirements for the plunge?

Ensure that the chiller is only used with a 110V/15A power supply on a dedicated circuit with no other items plugged into the same supply. Our recommendation is to reserve this circuit exclusively for the Plnge chiller to avoid the risk of tripping the circuit breaker, which could happen if it is shared with other high-wattage appliances.

It is not designed to operate with multiple voltages and cannot be utilized in countries that offer different power supplies. Additionally, if you plan to place it on a deck or balcony, ensure that the structure can withstand the weight of the tub when filled (800-1000 lbs).

When and how often can I use the Plnge?

This all depends on your personal wellness goals. Typically, we will recommend newer users to begin with a higher temperature and work their way into feeling comfortable with colder temperatures over time.

This also goes for time spent in the tub; starting with smaller amounts and working up to more time. With 3°C (37.4°F) being the coldest temperature the tub can reach without adding ice, a new user might take several weeks or longer to work their way down to this temperature.

For optimal health benefits in the shortest amount of time, we recommend using the tub for 2 - 5 minutes at or around 3°C - 8°C (37.4°F - 46.4°F).

This is a practice that may be integrated every single day if you should so desire. Time of day is also a matter of personal preference, though many of our users will typically start their day with a cold plunge.

What is the best temperature to set for my plnge?

This depends on personal goals and preferences. The Plnge also has the ability to heat up, which allows for the option to have both cold and heat exposure in one day from the same device. Some users will utilize cold in the morning, and set the tub to be heated for the evening.

How do I keep the water clean?

Maintaining the cleanliness of your tub is made near effortless with the combination of our chiller's ozone treatment system and a 20-micron filter.

Be sure to check the filter every 1 - 2 weeks of use. The filter may be rinsed out by spraying with a hose. Filter should be replaced every 1-2 months, depending on usage.

Replace the water in the tub intermittently based on its clarity. For draining tub water, a garden hose may be attached to the “out” outlet on the back of the tub and the used water may be steered directly into the nearest convenient drain.

Please see our User Guide section on the footer of the website to learn more about maintenance.

Is there any reason why I should not participate in cold or hot therapy?

It is advisable for individuals with pre-existing medical conditions or who are pregnant to consult a physician before initiating a program involving cold water immersion or heat therapy. Such immersion may lead to adverse reactions in those whose health is not completely sound.

Can I keep my plnge outside?

You can keep your Plnge and chiller outside. However, to prolong the life of the chiller’s outer housing, it is recommended to provide some protection from direct rain and extreme weather.

When using the unit in heavy rain, take care to ensure that the plug and socket connection remains dry. The GFCI cord is designed to prevent any short circuiting, but it's important to ensure that the socket is properly grounded. It's crucial to avoid submerging the unit in water to avoid permanent damage. The chiller may be used without issue in conditions up to approximately 0°C (32°F).

Using The Chiller in temperatures lower than -0°C (32°F) is not advisable, as it may freeze and result in significant damage to the unit. It should be noted that any harm caused by operating the equipment outside of the recommended range is not covered by our warranty policy.

Does the tub ever lose air if I keep it inflated?

Changes in the temperature of the surrounding air can cause fluctuations in air pressure, resulting in a loss of 1-2 PSI every month or so. If necessary, the tub can be replenished with air using the hand pump that comes with it, even when it is filled with water. However, be careful of accidentally hitting the deflate valve while doing so.

How loud is the plnge chiller?

Typically, the chiller operates fairly noiselessly once the water reaches the desired temperature level. However, during the cooling or heating process of the water, its fan generates a noise level comparable to that of a window air conditioning unit, which amounts to approximately 65 decibels at a distance of 3 feet or less.

FAQ

 Kaldr Savna

How long does set up/take down take?

The savna may be set up within a matter of minutes with only one person. Having wood chopped and prepared to go into the wood stove will also speed up the process. The tent takes approximately 30 minutes to reach 80-90°C (176-194°F ). Take down should also not take more than a few minutes. However, before moving the stove, ensure wood inside has burned out and that it is no longer producing heat. Be sure to empty the burn debris gathered in the stove pan out of the stove as frequently as possible.

How long does the Savna take to heat up?

The tent takes approximately 30 minutes to reach 180-200 degrees Fahrenheit. (82-93 degrees Celsius). If tent is not hot enough after 30 minutes, place more wood inside, adjust the stove controller to halfway closed, exit the tent, shut the door, and return after 15 minutes.

Can I keep my savna setup at all times without taking it down between uses?

Leaving the tent up for an extended period is possible, but it could reduce its overall lifespan. While the exterior fabric is crafted from sturdy, weather-resistant material, it is still advisable to store the tent inside during severe weather conditions.

If the tent is set up in windy or extreme weather conditions, ensure to use ropes and pegs (included) to tie down and secure your tent from blowing over. Rocks or any sort of weighted objects may also be placed around the outer skirt in order to make sure the tent stays in place.

What size of wood should be used?

Ideal wood size is any size of log under 16" long.

Note: Different types of wood come with different BTU ratings. The higher the BTU, the hotter that type of wood will burn.

Please refer to our user guide to view different ideal wood species for sauna burning purposes.

What surface should I put my Savna on?

We recommend setting up your Savna on a cleared area of ground, preferably on grass, tile, concrete, dirt, sand, stone, or *unvarnished* wood.

Does the tent release any chemicals when it's heated up?

No, the tent is composed of Oxford 210D Nylon and the windows of the tent are constructed from Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU). The tent has been lab tested for any off-gassing and there were zero concentrations of CO or VOCs in the air upon heating to the tent's highest possible temperatures (around 200°F).

How sturdy is the tent when it's windy?

The tent should be very secure in the wind so long as you take steps to ensure its stability. The tent includes an interior and exterior skirt, which can be anchored down with heavy objects such as rocks or bricks. The tent also includes ground stakes and ropes to secure the tent even further.
